[文摘]:TiAl matrix composite materials have potential as heat-resistant materials, especially in the field of aeronautics and space. The goal of our study is to develop SiC-based heat-resistant fiber/TiAl composite materials using vapor phase deposition processing. Since the intermetallic compound TiAl is chemically active, an optimum control of the interfaces is required to form TiAl matrix composite materials for comparatively high temperature application. The compatibility of the interfaces and the change in strength at normal and high temperatures have been studied by using SEM, EPMA, and tensile testing. The composites have improved strength with BN-coated or C-coated irradiation-cured SiC and SiTiC fibers at 1073 K. (Author)
